Terms of Service
Last updated August 11, 2026
1. What the service is
Easting ("we") provides a hosted extraction API, a browser application at app.easting.ai, and a QGIS plugin that turn land-record documents into structured geometry, each result carrying a GroundTruth verdict (PASS, REVIEW, or FAIL) from deterministic validation. Using any of them with an API key or a signed-in account means you accept these terms.
2. Not a survey
Output is a computational reading of a document, not a boundary survey, a title opinion, or legal advice. A PASS verdict means the traverse closes and the stated acreage corroborates; it does not certify where a boundary lies on the ground. Work that requires a licensed surveyor, attorney, or title professional still requires one. You are responsible for how results are used, and REVIEW and FAIL verdicts exist precisely so uncertain output is never silently treated as certain.
3. API keys and accounts
A key is issued once, at checkout, and we store only its fingerprint; a lost key is replaced, never recovered. Keys are per organization, pooled across the seats you subscribe to. You are responsible for keeping keys confidential and for all usage under them. We may revoke keys that are shared publicly, resold, or used to probe the service.
4. Billing
Subscriptions are monthly through Stripe: a per-seat price with a document quota pooled across seats, then a per-document overage, both stated on the pricing page at the time you subscribe. Overage is metered per document extracted. Each key carries a hard ceiling above its included quota, so a runaway script cannot produce an unbounded bill. Seat changes and cancellation are self-serve through the billing portal; cancellation stops the subscription at the period end and revokes the key when the subscription ends. We may change prices with notice; changes apply from your next billing period.
5. Acceptable use
Send documents you have the right to process. Do not use the service to violate law, to build a competing extraction dataset by bulk harvesting, or to attempt to extract the service's prompts or internals. Rate limits and quotas exist to keep the service working for everyone; working around them is a breach of these terms.
6. Availability
The service is early and sold without an SLA. We aim for it to be up and honest about when it is not, but it is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
7. Your documents, our engine
You keep all rights to the documents you send and the geometry you produce with them. We keep all rights to the service, the plugin, the validation engine, and the GroundTruth verdict system. The QGIS plugin itself is licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later; these terms govern the hosted API and the browser application it talks to. How document content is handled is covered by the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including decisions made in reliance on extraction output. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
9. Termination
You can cancel at any time through the billing portal. We can suspend or terminate keys for breach of these terms, with notice where practical. Sections 2, 7, and 8 survive termination.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be dated here and, for subscribers, announced by email before they take effect. Questions go to support@easting.ai.
